About the author
Jay Surti is a coach and trainer, helping professionals enhance their careers through presentation skills and leadership coaching. She regularly speaks on the topics of personal brand and effective communication and is also a member of a University Governing Body in a Non Executive role.
After initially graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering, Jay pursued a career as a lawyer for 17 years before pivoting and choosing to focus on developing expertise in presentation skills.
Jay’s enthusiasm for great presentation skills comes from having a deep seated fear of public speaking for many years which hindered her career progression until eventually she decided to do something about it. Through the process of training and working with some very talented speakers, she discovered tools and techniques to feel more confident when presenting and became fascinated with the process of crafting engaging presentations that make an impact.
When she’s not working or writing, Jay likes to explore history - through reading, travel, guided walks, museums and architecture. She has completed 7 marathons across several countries - usually ending up at the back of the pack and almost every time being beaten by the person in the rhino costume. She hopes to do better next time.

Public speaking, whether to a group of professionals in your industry, or simply asking a question in a Q&A session after a debate, can be quite nerve wracking. As someone who has spent many years training and supporting sales teams with their professional development, public speaking and sales skills, I strongly recommend this to anyone who does any selling, presenting or wants to manage teams in a more confident way - there are plenty of easily applied techniques that will benefit anyone.
I've personally benefited from seeing the author put the concepts in this book into action when I invited Jay Surti to run a workshop for my fellow Directors, from all over Europe. It's not a long book, and it’s packed full of great tips and useful exercises - written in an easy-to-read style. Jay explains how we can really connect with the audience in an authentic way - covering everything from what to say and how to say it, in simple terms.
The content covers a variety of techniques to help boost your confidence and come across as 'relaxed and dynamic’ as well as ways to make good use of anecdotes and humour. An excellent book for you and your teams.
