为使人工智能的收益最大化，企业必须改造数据架构。本体架构（ontology）应时而生，它能够使用通用术语来管理相互连结的系统。本体架构能够呈现和帮助定义复杂的数据关系，帮助使用者从企业内的多个来源取用和解读数据。

如今企业内的数据体量庞大，员工不可能吸收所有的流程、政策手册、培训、产品信息等知识。运用本体架构和相应的分类法（即用户定义的数据分组）能够建立全面的系统数据，将分散的内容联系起来，使得数据在不同系统间流动。之后，企业可以将人工智能运用于本体架构，产生下列收益：
