Recommendation

As AI accelerates change in every sector, leaders must stop thinking of human workers and tech tools in opposing terms and, instead, work to foster human-AI synergy. Seasoned educators and practitioners Dave Silberman, Rich Maltzman, Loredana Abramo, and Vijay Kanabar present a visionary but grounded guide for leading in an AI-augmented world. They offer sharp insights into AI-human dynamics, the ethical dimensions of AI use, and how human skills must evolve. Their insights will help equip future-looking leadership to navigate complexity, unlock innovation, and stay relevant in the age of AI.

Summary

Leaders should take a “Both/And” approach to integrating AI into their organizations.

But integrating AI into the workplace is not an “either/or,” humans-versus-machines dilemma. As AI pervades the business world, creating a more complex operating environment, leaders will need to adopt a new, synergistic paradigm.

As humans and AI work together, both parties’ strengths and weaknesses interplay. These “unseen dynamics” include humans’ biases and emotions, and AI systems’ algorithmic blind spots and data bias. Leaders must learn to recognize, understand, and leverage these unseen dynamics to avoid inefficiencies and foster innovation. Embracing a Both/And approach toward AI integration allows leaders to create conditions where humans and AI systems can work together, boosting the problem-solving and decision-making capabilities of humans through collaborative exchanges.
