Summary

A survey of 200 banking executives reveals that regulation remains in the forefront of their concerns, although distinct regional differences abound. Eighty-eight percent of North American respondents believe that bank capital regulations will have the greatest impact on retail banks through 2020, compared to just 28% of Asian respondents. Globally, rules on bank capital are awash in uncertainty, as regulators slug it out on new standards amid few clues on how the Trump administration and Brexit will or won’t change the legal landscape.
