Components like a critic (providing rewards), a learning module, a problem generator, and a performance element work together to refine the agent’s behavior continuously. These agents are especially effective in complex, changing environments but require significant data and training.

In real-world applications, combinations of these agent types are often used together in multi-agent systems, enabling more robust, cooperative behavior. Despite rapid advances, AI agents still benefit from human oversight, especially in nuanced or high-stakes contexts.
