Recommendation

Many employees stuck in the rat race wistfully dream about working from home. Indeed, working remotely can be liberating. Advancements in Internet technology have made it a viable option for millions of people. But those already working from home know how easily productivity can give way to loneliness and isolation. In this video, intrepid entrepreneur Marie Forleo becomes agony aunt extraordinaire and offers eight tips for remote workers. Although peppered with frivolous asides, Forleo’s video offers a humorous and candid take on a growing issue.

Take-Aways

  • Working from home is a growing trend, and though it can be hugely liberating, it can also generate crippling loneliness.
  • To combat that isolation, proactively try to make friends beyond the work setting, and plan social activities with them to nurture those relationships.
  • Working outside the house, whether at a park, café or co-working space, can bring you into contact with community members and other remote workers.

About the Speaker

Marie Forleo is a writer, lifestyle guru and the creator of B-School – an online digital marketing training program.

In Corona times the above tips are difficult to follow unfortunatly. My tip would be, to meet up with people via facetime on a regular basis. Also take time to phone somebody or create a group activity via Whatsapp (puzzle for example). Also talk to your manager if you feel alone. Don't keep it for yourself.
