Die "Rhetorik" des Aristoteles ist das bedeutendste antike Fachbuch zur Redelehre. Platon hatte die Redekunst (der Sophisten) als "unmoralisch" bekämpft, Aristoteles rehabilitiert sie und weist ihr eine Mittelstellung zwischen Dialektik und praktischer Philosophie zu.
