The LGBTQ workforce is less white and male than it used to be, which requires a new generation of diversity efforts from employers.

In the last two decades, employers have made strides to improve LGBTQ rights, but companies need to do more. Today’s LGBTQ community is more diverse than ever, extending beyond the monolith of predominantly “gay, white men” that dominated its ranks 20 years ago.

Today’s millennial and generation Z employees – regardless of their sexual identity – demand greater inclusivity at work and acceptance of their individual identities. To create a welcoming culture, companies need to approach their staff’s unique attributes through the lens of each individual employee’s self-identification.
