    #30DaysOfSummaries its very interesting how he points out that people are not comfortable calling themselves leaders. It's amazing how unconsciously we devalue the things we do and the kind of people we are. We don't even realize how small and irrelevant things we do or say can have such a impact in others life.

    I think making everyone feel special, or capable or important is a trait of good leadership. It doesn't have to be a big thing. I often look back to a particular manager when I was newly hired to a management position. Whenever I had doubts he would always tell me how smart I was (even if I didn't feel it) and that he had confidence that I would find a way to do whatever it was - and I did. I look back now and reflect on how his simple vote of confidence in me really did make a difference

      Thank you for sharing your experience; you didn't say if you still need such occasional 'simple vote of confidence' to do your best?

      Really good managers/ leaders are also able to see through the sincerity and intent of the compliment given by their subordinates and are generally impervious to them.

    Reminds me of a quote from one of the Penguins of Madagascar movies - "men, there is no sacrifice greater than someone else's"; and this talk seemingly alludes to finding/ creating/ celebrating more such fools.

    I enjoyed the TED talk and the summary. Intuitively, I can relate to the point that all of us are leaders and we should see ourselves as having leadership capacity. I guess, if the TED talk had shown additional data about how a small action can have impact -some times small and other times big, perhaps would have made the case more compelling and maybe more inspiring too? Big impact leadership is some times over celebrated - and small impact leadership is under celebrated ..and tends to be ignored by the person and society at large . For the good of the world -we do need both ,for sure.
    The abstract summary captures the TED talk well...

    The story makes me think and ask about what am I doing to create such "lollipop moments"? It also describes how easy such leading actually can be and how fate can work. And more important it made me think of whether I have shared my story with my "lollipop creator"....#30DaysOfSummaries

    Completely underwhelmed. More like a church sermon. I too, am a big believer in practicing the notion of 'daily gratitudes'. However, I wonder if getabstract could have chosen a more impactful and convincing summary that might go further in helping its audience become more effective?
    Is this the best that we can do for Day 2 of
    #30daysofsummaries? As a longtime reader of getabstract, I expected more in this Challenge. Is this knowledge worth sharing? I think not. Nice story, but seems self-serving. The speaker would have been more compelling with a more evidence-based articulation.

    I think people are not comfortable with the title of leader but they are uncomfortable with the accountability that comes along with the title. At the same time there are many leaders such as the speaker who do not have the title but play role of leader.
