US President-Elect Donald J. Trump, a businessman, has written or co-written 15 bestsellers, including The Art of the Deal, Surviving at the Top, The Art of the Comeback, The America We Deserve and Trump: The Best Golf Advice I Ever Received. Here, he demonstrates a vivid gift for a specific kind of message: an assertive declaration of his beliefs and policies, and praise for his judgment, success, willpower, insight, courage, ambition, acumen and problem-solving ability. While always politically neutral, getAbstract finds that this policy statement, like his previous bestsellers – all still selling in great quantities – is a professional, polished exercise in brand building, though perhaps more of a strong marketing book than a political one, however timely.

About the Author

Donald J. Trump is the 2017 US President-Elect. He has written or co-written 15 books, including The Art of the Deal, Surviving at the Top, The Art of the Comeback and The America We Deserve.

Ariana Huffington, for example, may build her brand by writing about the necessity of a good night’s sleep. Trump builds his brand by describing himself as a business expert who excels in all arenas. Many best-selling nonfiction authors attempt something similar: boasting for self-promotion. Many sell programs, ideas or philosophies, but few are as hearty, open and repetitive about their self-esteem – and few are as effective as Trump or demonstrate his verve for the task.

The major difference between Trump and other authors is that he is going to be the next president of the United States. Great Again functions the way many of his media efforts function: It is his direct address to the electorate. Trump prefers to bypass the traditional media in his effort to allow no barriers between himself and his potential voters. As he writes, “I went directly to the people.” And, as he knows, the media both love and scorn Trump. He beats the press at its own game by being so outrageous that he garners coverage other politicians have to purchase.
