Franck Frommer, an expert in the field of communications, has written a passionate book about – of all the unexpected topics – PowerPoint. He recognizes the program’s usefulness, technical excellence, flexibility and pervasive applicability, even as he criticizes its impact on the way people perceive, transmit and think about information. Part of his concern is that the program’s popular utility makes it ubiquitous and, thus, problematic.     Let's be honest here. If PowerPoint has any merits or demerits,it rests with the user. I have serious problems with Franck Frommer's treatise as he has particularly taken a one-sided stand regarding an extremely useful tool. The usefulness of any tool rests with the end user. If I consider all the useful things I do with PowerPoint I start to wonder if I could ever do so much without it. It does not have me,I have it and to the extent I make it useful will it remain so. It is same way we blame money for societal problems,whereas the problem is the way we access,distribute and use it. So please let's put the blame where it belongs.

    As I always said: Somebody who really has a point doesn't need PowerPoint to make it.
