Living and Working with AI

Better Together

by Patricia Sanders

AI constantly evolves, but the fundamentals of thinking alongside machines are timeless. Wharton professor Ethan Mollick offers an approachable guide to collaborating with AI and getting the most out of that partnership.

In the first year or two after ChatGPT’s introduction to the public, many thought of the technology as an updated version of the search engine or a newfangled form of software. Ethan Mollick offered one of the first accessible and authoritative guides to treating AI as something more: an always-available, highly capable, but often unreliable intellectual partner to anyone willing to take the leap.

Mollick, a professor of management at the Wharton School specializing in entrepreneurship and innovation, approaches the subject from the individual user’s point of view, experimentally and practically, with cautious optimism. He writes like a naturalist exploring a new land, depicting his explorations, discoveries, and the wonder of encountering a new form of intelligence. Co-Intelligence became one of a handful of defining books written for a general audience in the years immediately following ChatGPT’s emergence, introducing readers outside the tech world to living and working with generative AI.
