Global energy consumption will increase by 2.5% to 3.2% each year until 2020. China will be the world’s leading energy consumer during this period, while the US, in second place, will marginally increase its energy consumption. India and Russia will sharply expand their energy use and will remain the third- and fourth-largest consumers, respectively. Japan and Germany, in fifth and sixth place, will modestly enlarge their energy usage.
