Recommendation

In the 1970s, researchers in neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) created different personality archetypes to characterize how people communicate. Based on the NLP approach, communications expert Shelle Rose Charvet discusses 14 different “Pattern” types whom you can address with language that appeals to them. Charvet discusses six “Patterns of Motivation” and eight “Patterns of Productivity.” Charvet, of necessity, indulges in much NLP jargon that, at times, makes her ideas and practices opaque. Those vested in this process may have to read certain sections repeatedly. However, dedicated study might help you connect with people and collaborate more effectively.

Summary

The “Language and Behavior Profile” (LAB Profile) is a tool for predicting, understanding and influencing behavior.

The Language and Behavior Profile (LAB Profile), created by Rodger Bailey, is a tool that enables you to predict, understand and influence people’s behavior by identifying what motivates them, how they think and make decisions.

The method uses the “neuro-linguistic-programming” (NLP) approach to communication. The “programming” part of NLP refers to genetics and to environmental influences that determine how people program themselves to be good or bad at certain tasks. How people communicate linguistically shows how they think neurologically. NLP can help you analyze how people make decisions, including determining how to create rapport with them and how to change their limiting beliefs.

You can apply the LAB Profile in a variety of communication contexts, including:

  • Making an impactful presentation to a large group.
  • Improving marketing and sales processes for enhanced client reach.
  • Hiring the best candidates for executive positions.
  • Coaching organizations to more effective communications...
